Overview
Throughout this web-site the terms Autogas and LPG are alternated, occasionally Propane will be mentioned, they are all one and the same. so do not be confused.
Autogas is the Cinderella fuel of the motor industry in this country, but elsewhere in the world it is a major fuel source for vehicles. Drive almost anywhere in mainland Europe and you will find an LPG pump at most petrol stations.
The governments decision to reduce duty on Autogas in 1998 and their ongoing undertaking not to increase it continues to give the industry a competitive edge. There are now well over 1400 fill up points throughout the country.
The fuel is cheap, safe, environmentally friendly, reduces wear on the engines bottom end, available in abundance, and the cost of conversion on a modern engine can be recovered through fuel savings in a reasonable time.
If it had been discovered today it would be described as a wonder fuel, but the fact is; it is the original fuel that powered the first internal combustion engines.
