Fuel Sources There is no point in spending your pocket money having a conversion fitted, if you cannot fill it up. The fact was that Autogas outlets were often few and far between, well off the beaten track, and only open for about one hour a month. A few years ago you would have to plan any long journey in this country very carefully if you did not want to revert to using petrol. This situation has now changed as more and more of the major suppliers install gas pumps at their filling stations It has been estimated that the number of outlets will continue to expand well beyond today's 1400 plus forecourt sites, with BP leading the way, and all the other companies hot on their heels. At the beginning of the year 2,000 their were as little as 250 sites throughout the country, however with incentives from government both vehicle manufacturers, and fuel companies have seized the initiative to promote their Autogas product. The major companies will not talk figures, but many have plans to promote liquid petroleum gas. The figure banded about is that eventually 25% of all filling stations will have gas pumps. By the end of 2006 it has been estimated that there will be over 190,000 vehicles running on Autogas in this country.
